The Festival of “Cuchi” - the “unofficial” name used for the Day of Saint Mark - takes place every year in Canove, on 25th April.
The protagonists of this celebration are the traditional whistles made of terracotta called “cuchi”, which produce a peculiar sound, similar to the voice of the cuckoo. According to the tradition, on this day, boys give the “cuchi” to girls as a present. With time, the whistles became an object for collectors, and today the village of Canove hosts the “Biennale del fischietto in terracotta” (“The Biennial Festival of Terracotta Whistles”) and in the village of Cesuna, situated in the Municipality of Roana, there is a small but fascinating Cuchi Museum.
The festival is very popular among children of the Plateau, since they are entertained by games, amusement rides and fairs.
