Trail length: Walking route 10 Km - Mountain bike route 15 Km
Accessibility: On foot, by mountain bike, on horseback.
DESCRIZIONE The path starts from the Ice Stadium Square and reaches first the Prunno clearing, a natural glade where you can find a restaurant-lodge (equipped with toys for children).
From the clearing you can reach the archeological site Riparo Battaglia which dates back to 13.000 years ago.
From there the path goes into the woods and if you follow a detour along the main forest road you can reach two historical sites related to the First World War (Barenthal’s military hospitals and English cemetery).
If you go back to the same street you can find Lazzaretto and San Sisto’s church.
These places have an important historical and cultural value because they are related to the plague of the 1600s and to the Grande Rogazione, a votive procession that takes place 40 days after Easter and traces the borders of asiago for 33 km.
Continuing, it passes for Scogli delle Ave, where you can see the Altopiano’s typical geological formations like the outcrops of ammonitic red.
Then, you go back to the historic centre of Asiago crossing Contrada Ave and Museo le Carceri.
If you want to do the itinerary by mountain bike, a variant is provided that passed the Cemetery continues to Pria dell’Acqua, Baito Töerle, then Museo dell’Acqua.
The museum is dedicated to the vegetation and animals of the mountain pasture ponds and the history of the water of the Altopiano, in particular to the scarcity of water because of the karst territory.
Near the museum, if you follow the marked route, you can see the karst chasms.
