Trail length: Walking route 8 Km - Mountain bike route 8 Km
Accessibility: On foot, by mountain bike, on horseback.
DESCRIPTION
The path starts from the Ice Stadium square and reaches the War Memorial, where, following an unpaved little path you can reach Zocchi quarter first and then Pennar quarter. This hamlet is famous for the presence of the cheese factory with the same name, where Asiago cheese is produced in all its different varieties. Here you can have a break to taste a great quality cheese!
From here the path allows you to reach the Asiago Astrophysical Observatory, where -upon reservation- it is possible to visit the Galileo Telescope, as well as to participate to interesting activities and guided tours.
Along the path a reproduction of the Solar System on a scale of 1:1.000.000.000. This means that one metre covered corresponds to one billion metres (one million kilometres) in the Solar System or, similarly, that one centimetre is equivalent to one billion centimetresin the reality. The size of each planet in relation to each other and to the Sun is also proportioned according the the same scale.
From the Observatory you can easily go back to the Asiago City Centre passing near “Le Carceri” Museum.
Asiago, with its territory to be discovered, participates in the project "Futourist" funded by the cross-border cooperation program Interreg Italy-Austria. The latter, applied to less known alpine resorts to the masses, aims to promote a type of emotional and thematic tourism, far from the exploitation of mountain infrastructure; a tourism that goes hand in hand with environmental education, care and conservation of nature. The project aims to increase tourist flows and diversify the types of users who access the identified areas. The municipality of Asiago, together with the province of Belluno and the Tyrol, therefore, fits well into this new format that provides for the enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of the Alps through open air sporting initiatives, tourism and sustainable.
There are 5 thematic itineraries to promote and enhance thanks to the practice of outdoor activities.
"SKYSCAPE" INTERREG PROJECT
The path has been enriched with a scale reproduction of the Solar System as part of the project "SKYSCAPE - Astronomical Tourism: The Beauty of the Sky as a Resource for Territories" (ITAT 2047), funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FESR) and Interreg V-A Italy - Austria 2014-2020.
